Barry Joseph Guld is a Canadian entrepreneur, investor, business planner, and biotechician. Guld is best known as the co-founder of Zadall Systems Group Inc, leading prescription processing company and served as its president for more than 17 years. He is a serial entrepreneur having co-founded a number of companies including Zadall, Answer Computers and others. [1][2][3]

During his career, Guld has been a board member of the Mark Anthony Group of companies, One Carbon Therapeutics, SecureRF and Shoes.com. He is also a member of the largest venture capital company in Canada, Venture Wes and considered as one of the top healthcare and IT service dealmakers. He has invested in several companies in Canada and the United States, which include eRx, pc/1, PDX and Ladaz Technologies, Inc.[4][5]

Early life and education

Guld completed his high school from Grant Park High School. He graduated from University of Manitoba with a BComm with honors in Marketing/Finance.

Career

Guld started his career in 1978 as a marketing representative in IBM. He displayed an interest in business and investing, in January 1980, Guld began his business career and founded Zadall Systems Group, a pharmacy health and technology software company. Right after the founding, the company gained a reputation and expanded its operations in the United States. Zadall quickly grews to process more than a billion prescriptions in a year. Guld served as a president of Zadall for more than 17 years. In March 1983, Guld started his second venture and co-founded Answer Computers, a chain store to sell and service computers. [7]

In January 2001, Guld founded Ventures West, a venture capital firm that focuses on early stage investing. By October, he invested in PDX Canada, PDX, Rx.com, eRx and held the position of President for a little more than a decade. In 2007, Guld co-founded and became director and CEO of Methylation Sciences Inc. [8]

Boards and memberships

In Jan 2007, Guld was appointed as a director at Mark Anthony Group, White Claw Beverage Assets, Mikes Hard lemonade US Assets and Mark Anthony Bahamas. He was named in the Panama Papers as having undeclared assets offshore.[2] He was a board member and lead director of Shoes.com until it went bankrupt in 2017. He was a Ypo member and forum partner with Anthony Von Mandl and invested through Von Mandl holding company Pelacanus, as its Chief Investment Officer. [9]

Guld was also appointed as Board member and lead director Build Direct.com from 2014-2018, until their bankruptcy. In April 2019, he was named as board member of Prescryptive Health, Inc. He is also a board member and advisor of Veridify Security, an online authentication service. [10]

Personal Life

Barry Joseph Guld is married to Trudi. The couple has 2 children Enrico (son) and a daughter Aria. [11]
