The term "digital marketing" refers to the aspect of marketing that promotes goods and services via the use of the Internet and other online-based digital technology, such as desktop computers, mobile phones, and other digital media and platforms. The advancements made in this field throughout the 1990s and 2000s brought about a sea shift in the manner in which companies and brands use technology for marketing purposes. Digital marketing campaigns have become more prevalent as digital platforms have become increasingly integrated into marketing plans and everyday life, and as more people have used digital devices instead of going to physical stores, digital marketing campaigns have utilised combinations of search engine optimisation (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM), content marketing, influencer marketing, content automation, campaign marketing, data-driven marketing, e-commerce marketing, social media marketing, and socia marketing. The term "digital marketing" refers to marketing campaigns that use digital media through channels other than the Internet, such as television, mobile phones (SMS and MMS), callbacks, and on-hold mobile ring tones. Digital marketing may be differentiated from online marketing since it extends to channels other than the Internet. [[Category:Online advertising]
