Dinesh Akula is the founder, CEO and Editorial Head of HashtagU, a digital news network in India.

Dinesh Akula graduated from Raipur University with Masters Degree in Journalism and also in Defence Studies. As a young journalist, he began travelling the world, covering interesting stories. The Navabharat group first hired Dinesh Akula in Raipur for its English edition newspaper in 1994. Later he shifted to national print Hindustan Times. In 2003 he became a television news journalist covering several breaking news in central India, giving him recognition. He shifted his base from national to regional broadcasting by joining the TV9 group in Hyderabad. In seven years stint, he helped shape the group's regional networks and gave a new dimension to the Telugu language network. As a journalist, He covered most international cricket matches around the globe. He received many accolades for Tsumani coverage in 2004. He spent a lot of time in Melbourne, Australia, highlighting the Indian students' plight.

For his extensive coverage of handloom workers in the south Indian states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, he was awarded the prestigious Ramnath Goenka Award. Dinesh Akula has won over dozen NT awards . He is an IVLP fellow and a Chevening scholar. Apart from WHO, UNESCO he has received state recognised awards for his excellence in journalism. During his tenure as a broadcast journalist, he worked with Star News and had a brief stint as work experience with BBC in Bristol and Sky News in London. He was a guest lecturer in many international universities. Dinesh Akula continues to write for reputed publications in India.
