Wong Jest Phia, known as Dr. Jest Wong, was born in Kuala Lumpur on April 20, 1984. He is currently the Managing Director of Westwood Clinic, a professional with nearly two decades of training and business development experience in the aesthetics and wellness sector.

Early Life and Education

Dr. Jest Wong was born in Kuala Lumpur on April 20, 1984, to Chinese parents, Wong Voon Sang (1958) and Lai Miew Ying (1960). He attended Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Segar for elementary school from 1991 to 1995 and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Cheras from 1996 to 2000. He completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of Manitoba, Canada, from 2002 to 2006, and later obtained his PhD in Biochemistry from University Putra Malaysia.

Career

Beginning in 2006 and continuing through 2008, Dr. Jest Wong began his professional adventure by working as a business development executive for Aesthetic Marketing Asia Sdn Bhd. Following that, he spent the years 2008 to 2018 working as a managing director at Today Beauty Marketing Sdn Bhd. He went into Hiatus on self-discovering purpose at the end of 2018 to explore different field of learnings till the beginning of 2020. Following that, he became an Assistant Sales Director at Kiseki Marketing Sdn Bhd, where he worked for a year during the MCO period. Dr. Jest Wong has been the managing director of Westwood Clinic since 2022. Dr. Jest Wong has a wealth of experience that specializes in the adoption of laser technologies, the development of medical professionals, and great customer satisfaction. Additionally, Dr. Jest Wong had successfully led the team to an award that garnered a lot of attention, and he was also the holder of the Malaysia book of records in the field of aesthetics.

Charity and Communities Involvement

Together with entrepreneurs as well as local artist, Dr. Jest Wong launches Malaysia first charity Chinese New Year song entitle "新年正能量[1]” this song which is aired in most major air station as well as distributed in all major music store, intended to spread positivity mindset and to gather enough money to be donated to Wishesland, a charity house for kids that suffer from cerebral palsy. This resulted in Wishland able to set up its first centre in Peninsula Malaysia in 2023. This action has earned as the first aesthetic clinic to run a charity within 72 hours straight into the Malaysia Book of Record 2023.

Dr. Jest Wong expanded Project Umbrella’s scope by facilitating international cooperation. By collaborating with other nations to establish a global community, Dr, Jest Wong contributes to creating a more cohesive and compassionate society. His goal is to create a welcoming and accepting community where people feel free to ask for assistance, find comfort, and grow. One notable contribution is the launch of their own patented program, "Re-Mind," which employs level 3 deep learning in machine learning. This had huge influence on society, with over 500,000 usage recorded and over 5000 persons benefiting from interventions. It is a step towards an objective of wanting to impact 10 million lives by year 2030. Numerous tours, campaigns, workshop, seminar, events, collaborations, exhibition are held to promote this project. Numerous E-book has been launched in conjunction with this project in order to scale this project globally and spread around easily. The project became the first Malaysia CSR project to be illuminated at New York Times Square billboard to promote mental health wellbeing. This campaign has given rise to many collaborations at academic level with universities globally, all with vision to make the community a better place. These collaborations including research and interventions development.

Furthermore, Dr. Jest Wong is involved in charitable activities, including serving as the chartering president of the 2024 Lions Club of KL-ReMind. This chapter aims to unite right- minded individuals in the field of mental wellbeing with the goal of reaching out to those in need of assistance whose lives or those of a family member are being hampered by a declining mental state. The club technically specializes in both mental health and wellness and this is actually a non-profit is more than 1.4 million members in 200 countries spread around the world. It is possible that the establishment of this club may assist a greater number of individuals who are struggling with mental health issues in being more optimistic in their lives and in gaining the confidence to endure.

Additionally, Dr. Jest Wong also participated in the Hope for All – Unity Project (2023), a JCI initiative that aims to help orphanages, children with autism, and also the elderly. Besides that, he also participates in the "PROPFEST2023 and 2024" which is a scholarship program for orphanage. They had successfully raised a total of RM 200k in the second year of Propfest, having raised RM 100k in the first year. This effort is one of the humanistic approaches that may assist individual in need have a brighter future and put a smile on their faces. It is hoped that these activities will have a beneficial influence on our society and will be able to assist a greater number of individuals who are in need in the future. This mega charitable event will run at different state in coming years with intention on wanting to impact more life and help society to be a better place.

In 2024, Dr Jest Wong together with his team and NGO to run a 100 days transformation to individual who wanted to improve their life both physically and mentally. This meaningful event is fully supported by KL Wellness City. Dr Jest Wong also participate in a nationwide event which is organize by government hospital entitle “pain free” project. This is intended to help patient that suffer from trauma and has been impacting their mental health problem. Seminars as well as workshop is being organize together with hospitals to promote this event to allow public understand the impact of adverse childhood experiences as well as adopting trauma-informed care in an approach to foster holistic healing and resilience. It serves as purpose to equip healthcare professional with essential knowledge and practical tools to navigate nuances within their practice.

Dr Jest Wong also involve in one of JCI Bandar Klang flagship program called “Buddy Not Bully” since 2023 as a speaker. He actively participates in campaigns together to promote antibully. This is an annual event to highlight the importance of such act and increase awareness to build buddy instead of bully. It is an early intervention to create awareness among kids.

Dr. Jest Wong is actively promoting preventative measures for mental health concerns utilizing technologically driven medical breakthroughs, as well as controlled aesthetics to shield the public from the lethal risk of unlicensed aesthetic practitioners. And he has worked closely with numerous parties, including healthcare providers, academic institutions, and other sectors, in many projects including in intervention pertains to a computer-implemented system for analyzing voice data to determine mental stress levels, sleep quality, and overall mental health of users.[40]
