Jamaicans.com has been providing content for the past two decades which has resulted in it becoming a credible source for people looking to know more about Jamaica.[11] It is often referenced as a source for Jamaican information by many other media entities and is also listed on the Jamaican Government’s information service page.[12][13]

The website has gained mass popularity for its content and has been featured in multiple media outlets for the same, such as South Florida Times,[14][15] BuzzFeed,[16] News Americas News Network, Caribbean Today,[17] Huff Post,[18] Caribbean Life News, Miami Herald,[19] and others.[20][21]

History

The media platform operated as “The Website on Jamaica” since December 1995 until they secured the domain name Jamaicans.com in October 1996 and changed the name to Jamaicans.com.[22][23][24][25] The idea behind creating such a website was a pioneering effort to make the Jamaican diaspora[26] connect easily and on a larger scale.[27]

Jamaicans.com’s operations are handled from its headquarters in Florida, USA., and the website aims to serve a global readership.[28][29][30] The online portal produces editorial and video programming, live events, and social, shareable content delivered across major social media platforms and covers a variety of categories.[31][32][33]

Content

The online publication covers a diverse range of news stories, recipes, food & travel tips, entertainment content about the country and is targeted worldwide at Jamaicans and people with an interest in Jamaica.[34][35] Coverage is intended to provide an insight into subjects that make up for the rich Jamaican culture and heritage.[36][37]
