Kaleb Jonathaniel known as Kaleb J (born 16 December 2000) is an Indonesian singer, best known for participating in the The Voice Indonesia (season 4) as part of the Isyana Sarasvati team and making the top 6 of that competition.[1][2] Kaleb released his debut single entitled "It's Only Me"[3] on November 28, 2020 through an independent music label called Passion Vibe using the stage name Kaleb J.[4] The song began to go viral in mid-2021 and became a viral sound on TikTok and topped the top charts on a number of music platforms.[5]
Background
Kaleb's love for music dates back to his childhood. According to his mother, little Kaleb grew up to be an active child and often sang commercial songs. Even when Kaleb was cranky, his mother would often calm him down by playing the guitar. Then when he was in elementary school, Kaleb was known to often practice vocals with his mother. Kaleb knew the type of R&B music from his school principal when he attended vocational school. Some of the musicians who became his inspiration in music include Boyz II Men and Brian McKnight.[6]
Kaleb J started his career by following Starvoices Indonesia Indonesia season six until the last 34, then I Can See Your Voice Indonesia (season 3) where he was eliminated in the lipsync in the episode Maria Simorangkir, and The Voice Indonesia (season 4) to the top 6.[7]
