Kosher Institute of America (KIA) is the leading provider of comprehensive online kosher courses. With over 30 courses offered, KIA has been widely adopted by certifying kosher agencies across five continents and has received high acclaim from the commercial kosher food industry, as well as from those seeking to maintain a kosher household.[1][2]

Overview

Rabbi Nosson Dubin founded the kosher Institute of America (KIA) in 2019. The institute offers over 30 online kosher courses. With more than 3,000 people enrolled in KIA courses since inception, the Kosher Institute of America has established itself as the leading provider of formal kosher education.[3]

The success of KIA can be attributed to its early partnerships with influential organizations in the kosher industry. The popularity of the courses grew by word of mouth and received a significant boost when staff at the famous Jewish website, Aish.com, requested to partner with KIA to provide the course on their site. This was followed by the Association of Kashruth Organizations (AKO), the umbrella organization for all kosher organizations worldwide, coming on board. In January 2020, Rabbi Dubin presented KIA courses at the international AKO conference in New Jersey.[4]

In partnership with AKO, KIA offers an accredited Mashgiach training course utilized by many of the largest kashrus agencies in the world, including the Orthodox Union, OK, Kof-K, and the Chicago Rabbinical Council. The program includes uniform kosher guidelines approved by all significant kashrus agencies, as well as customized policies designed to meet the needs and standards of individual hashgachos.[5]

KIA also offers a Mashgiach graduates database, an apparel store, and a Mashgiach job board.

Courses and curriculum

KIA's curriculums are designed to be accessible to everyone and are broken down into shorter modules, allowing participants to learn at their own pace. The courses include videos, demonstrations, flow charts, and PDF downloads and are highly interactive, engaging, and user-friendly.[6]

The courses offered by KIA are divided into three main categories: A Mashgiach course for those looking to work for a kosher supervising agency, a Kosher as a Career course for personnel working in kosher kitchens, and a Kosher Empowered Home Edition, designed for home kitchens.

Upon completion of the Mashgiach course, students receive a certificate, official ID badge, and authorization to work with participating kashrus agencies worldwide.
