Gaoming Lu (born November 27, 1997), formerly Gaoming Li, known by his stage name Lancen Gm, is a Chinese music producer, songwriter, and filmmaker. He is the founder of an independent record label, Gm.L Records, and a film company, Gm.L Pictures. With a Master of Fine Arts in Filmmaking from the New York Film Academy, Lancen Gm is renowned for his work in the Hollywood film industry, producing over seven short films and multiple music videos and TV commercials. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he ventured into music, gaining recognition for his professionally crafted dance-pop tracks.[1][2]

Early life and education

Lancen Gm was born on November 25, 1997, in Sichuan, China. In 2021, he graduated with a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the New York Film Academy.

Career

Film Producer

Lancen Gm began his journey in the Hollywood film industry in 2016, visiting Los Angeles as a cameraman and editor. The experience led him to build his career in filmmaking. During his master's, he connected with international filmmakers and planned his breakthrough projects.[5][6]

Over the years, Lancen Gm has established a remarkable portfolio, producing several short films and music videos under his production company, Gm.L. Pictures. His credits include notable works such as "Tecno: Phantom V Fold," "Part of Me Knows What You’re Thinking," "CAPPC," "Margaret," "Code 1⁄2," "Three Pick-Up Artists," and "Volatility." In the film "Code 1⁄2," Lancen showcased his multifaceted talents as a writer, director, art director, sound designer, and editor, delving into themes of betrayal, loyalty, intrigue, and danger. Likewise, "Three Pick-Up Artists" is a compelling 10-minute film that explores LGBTQIA themes and infidelity.[7]

He has also produced several commercial advertisement videos for high-end clients such as Honda, Oppo, and Tide.[8]

By the end of 2022, Lancen Gm had achieved international recognition, gaining multiple awards at film festivals. His micro-hits caught the attention of many countries, leading him to plan co-productions in Pakistan, encompassing both film and music endeavors.[9][10]

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Lancen Gm reworked his previous tracks and entered the music industry in 2021 with singles like "Runaway To Dancin'," "Ride With Me," "Dangerous," "I Wanted It," and "Be The One." In 2022, he established Gm.L. Records, an independent record label. In 2022, his single "Fake Love" gained recognition with consistent streams and views on various platforms, garnering a substantial following. Lancen Gm's music blends modern production with catchy melodies and soulful intentions, appealing to a diverse audience.
