Nissar Saidu Mohammad, professionally known as Nissar Syed is a UAE-based Indian journalist, creative writer, and social media influencer. He is the author of the best-selling book Yesteryears of Charismatic Personalities. Syed has received UAE Golden Visa for 10 years honoured by Dubai Culture for his contributions made in Cultural and Creative fields.[1]

Syed is recognized for organizing cultural events in connection with recognizing the talents on account of Excellence Awards, TV Awards, Business Awards, and Radio Awards. He has played an integral role in promoting the Indo-Arab culture for popular Indian TV channels like Flowers TV, Mazhavil Manorama TV, Media One TV, Darshana TV, and Asianet TV. cultural events.[2]

During his career, Syed has held many positions in the media & communication industry such as newsreader, TV presenter, columnist, social media influencer, program presenter, and others for major platforms like All India Radio, Asianet TV, Radio Asia, Dubai Vartha, Asiavision Family Magazine, Asiavision Advertising, Dubai Vartha, and American50 News to name a few. Nissar Syed at present communicates to his over 1 million followers in the gulf region through Dubai Vartha, Oman Malayalam, Bahrain Vartha, Saudi Vartha, Qatar Local news, Kuwait Vartha, Day of Dubai and others. He is also the founder of Food Souq Page in social media.

Nissar syed is the first TV presenter from Gulf Region on an Indian TV channel on a weekly basis in the name Gulf Week on Kairali TV with weekly news analysis 2001.

Nissar syed was presenting Ramadan TV Show on Asianet TV since 2001 in the name ROAD TO MAKKAH[3] and the legacy of the show is continuing on DUBAI VARTHA now also.[4]

Education

Syed completed his schooling with distinction in 1985. After that he received his bachelor’s degree in Physics in 1990 and then did a post-graduate diploma in Journalism. Simultaneously he also applied for a Health Inspector Course. In 2021, Syed undertook digital journalism training from Reuters.

Career

After receiving his post-graduate diploma, Syed worked as a newsreader and translator at All India Radio for four years. He then went on to work for UAE Radio Ras Al Khaimah in the Malayalam language as a news editor and newsreader. Syed then handled social media communication activities with more than 1 million followers across all gulf countries and India with approval from National Media Council Abudhabi UAE.[5]

Syed, during his career, has also played an integral role in organizing numerous cultural events such as the Asiavision Movie Awards,[6] the India pavilion (trade and culture) in Ajman Fantazia, UAE’s 50 years celebration with the International Promoter’s Association in 2021, and Karate Guinness with the support of UAE Karate Association and Dubai Police.[7] Syed conducted one of the biggest ceremonies in UAE with the collaboration of Global Village, Dubai to enhance the cultural diversities and co-existence in 2019.[8]

Apart from his career in Journalism, Syed also published a book titled ‘Yesteryears of Charismatic Personalities’, which dealt with the unknown childhood period of the then Indian President KR Narayanan, the first Chief Minister of Kerala EMS Namboothirippaad, world-renowned Indian classic movie director Adoor Gopalakrishnan, the former Kerala Chief Ministers EK Nayanar and K Karunakaran, Legendary Indian music maestro Dr. KJ Yesudas, actor Mammootty and other prominent figures. The book published many editions in a short span of time and it became the best seller in UAE too in 2001-2003.[9]

  • Won international media awards from Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and India for Radio and TV presentation skills.
  • Winner of television critics award for the presentation of cultural travelog Road to Makkah which was telecast on Asianet TV channels. (2001-2018)
  • Recognitions received from Government of Kerala and UAE’s various organizations for promoting social harmonious activities and humanitarian initiatives through the media
