The Post-COVID Support Community is a private online network launched by RT Medical in December 2022. The Community operates as a virtual support group and provides expert resources for people suffering from Post-COVID, also known as Long COVID.[1]

Designed specifically to support people with debilitating symptoms who have nowhere to turn for help, the online community provides members with access to resources, ecourses, groups circles, and live sessions throughout their recovery journey. The live events are moderated by trained healthcare practitioners and professionals. As a platform that fosters support and compassion, individuals also get access to a supportive environment to regain control over their lives.

History

The Post-COVID Support Community is a global, expert-led platform specifically created to provide assistance to people suffering from Long COVID symptoms. Operated by RT Medical, the Community first launched in 2022 to address the growing cases of Long COVID among the population. After months of assisting patients through its Canadian telehealth clinic, the healthcare team at RT Medical realized that more and more people around world were struggling to manage their symptoms.

These symptoms often manifest in different debilitating conditions, including brain fog, cognitive decline, severe mental and physical fatigue and depression. In addition, due to a lack of definitive research, only limited government resources are available to the public. In an effort to provide support and resources to sufferers, RT Medical highly specialized online platform for Post-COVID patients.

The Community ensures a safe space for other Post-COVID patients and trained healthcare providers to help sufferers deal with common recovery pain points. Live training classes, a self-management e-course, group support circles and specialized training classes are the key resources available for effective symptom management.

Product and services

Developed by a fellow long-hauler, the online Community platform from RT Medical provides Post-COVID sufferers with three key services: specialized live training classes, a self-management e-course, and group support circles. Each service has been designed specifically to assist the Post-COVID sufferers throughout their recovery journey by providing resources to help manage symptoms effectively.

Specialized Live Training Classes

Recognizing that Long COVID sufferers struggle to find the professional assistance required to help them heal, the specialized live training classes are designed to teach members exercises and techniques that will help self-manage their conditions. These training classes are conducted live via online video and recordings are posted in Community.

Each session is hosted by a trained practitioner that helps patients understand their symptoms and practice light exercises or self-management techniques. As a part of the session, members get to participate in Q&A sessions with the instructors.

These expert live trainings also focus on helping patients gradually get back to their everyday routines.

A Self-Management E-course

To help members take charge of their own recovery, the self-management e-course teaches how to prepare a recovery plan and set realistic recovery expectations. The course material helps introduce patients to post-COVID life, including strategies and techniques to manage a variety of symptoms.

By implementing a self-managed plan, patients are given supervised control to structure their routines in accordance with personal and professional goals. Over time, members can learn to better understand their symptoms and plan how to mitigate their debilitating effects.

Group Support Circles

The Post-COVID Support Community offers members a safe and intimate environment to connect with others and seek help. The Group Support Circles provide an outlet to patients to share their personal struggles, achievements and stories with each other. These sessions are conducted over video conference and are moderated by trained professionals.

Group Support Circles also operate as tools for healthy social exposure. Many long-haulers suffer from social anxiety and emotional fatigue, preventing them from fully participating in regular social events. Furthermore, the lack of available resources from traditional public health channels, can leave Post-COVID sufferers feeling alone.

Group Support Circles introduce patients to safe social interaction, helping them gain confidence. The video sessions are not recorded. Overall the Post-COVID Suport Community is designed to provide individuals with a sense of control, a supportive environment and a structured path to recovery.
