Sophie Dyson (born September 27, 2000)..[1][2], known professionally as Sody, is a British singer and songwriter[3].

Early life

Born and raised in London, England, Dyson was already singing at the age of 10 with a performance for the Anthony Nolan Charity.[4]

In 2013, she participated in the TeenStar national talent contest and got to the finale of the show.[5] This lead to an invitation to the BBC Music Awards in 2014.

Career

Her debut single "Sorry", which was released in 2016, and her following "Youth EP" recieved broader recognision[6][7].

Later that year, she signed to Universal Music Publishing[8][9].

After that, she released the single "Let Go" in 2017[10].

Her signing to Relentless Records in early 2018 [11][12] was followed by her single "Maybe It Was Me" in September 2018 [13].

This song helped her gain more popularity while also supporting Tom Walker on tour in October 2018 [14].

In December 2018 her next single "Let You Know" was released[15].

On the last day of the year, Sody published her demo of the song "Whole"[16].

In April 2019, she released the song "The Bully"[17]. This song contains lyrics about bullying and how it can affect people[18]. Sody was personally bullied because of her experience with Acne and her musical ambitions[19]. The release went along with a touring in different schools across the UK to give the problem of bullying in school more attention[20].

"I Don't Know You Anymore (demo)" was released in June 2019[21].

January 2020, Sody released her second EP "I'm Sorry, I'm Not Sorry", with the songs "What We Had", "Reason To Stay", "Nothing Ever Changes" and "Love's a Waste"[22].

In March 2020, her single "Charlotte" followed[23].

Another track named "Bedroom Ceiling", was published in May 2020[24]. A Remix by Ouse[25], an acoustic version[26], a new version with Cavetown[27] and later that year, a remix by Fudasca of the new version icluding Rxseboy[28], followed.

Before the Fudasca remix, the song "Fools", a collaboration between Foster, Sarcastic Sounds and Sody, was released[29]. It is a reboot of Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling In Love"[30]

In December 2020, she released her third EP "real growth takes time" with the lead single "butterfly" being released a day before the whole EP[31][32]
