Abdellah Eid Nizar (born January 1994 in Rabat) is a Moroccan political activist and human rights defender. He is a member of the national council of the Authenticity and Modernity Party.
Engagement in civil society
Eid Nizar began his civil commitment in April 2011 with the February 20 movement, a year later he joined the students' union for change in the education system before founding the Forum for Modernity and Democracy in October 2016.[1]
Engagement in political life
In parallel with his commitment to civil society, Eid Nizar became a member of the United Socialist Party in November 2013 but did not stay there long, in May 2014 he joined the Authenticity and Modernity Party in which he was elected member of the national council during the national congress of 2016 which saw the rise of Ilyas El Omari as secretary general, and was re-elected in the same body during the national congress of the party in 2020 which saw the election of Abdellatif Ouahbi in as general secretary.[2]
Eid Nizar is also a podcaster, he created his own show on YouTube in September 2016 called "L'minerva" which he explains and sometimes takes controversial positions which reflect his opinions relating to several political subjects.[3]
Candidate for local elections and 2021 electoral campaign
In September 2021 he was a PAM candidate in the local elections in the district of Agdal Riad in Rabat, he also participated in his party's electoral campaign at the national level. The PAM was ranked second and participated for the first time in the government coalition chaired by Aziz Akhannouch.
A year later he was the subject of several criticisms and a campaign which demanded his resignation from his post on social networks because of some excesses experienced at the "L'boulvard" festival in Casablanca.[4]
Since October 2022 he has made media appearances to give his opinion on controversial subjects such as the family code, individual freedoms or his positioning against the Redpill movement in Morocco.[5]
