He was later captured during battle and was incarcerated to a concentration camp on the island of Sicily in Italy. During his imprisonment, he met a few other prisoners, one being capitan Julio, a Yugoslav hero. The two became friends and made a daring escape from the concentration camp, taking with them a dozen of prisoners of different ethnic groups to the woods. Abdissa was chosen the leader of the international army of partisans which consisted of captured Americans, English, French, and Ethiopians who all suffered under the brutal regime. Abdissa and his new army unleached guerrilla warfare against the Italians, severely weakening the state of Italy. When the Allies reached Rome, they held Abdissa highly. Early life

Abdissa Aga, born into an Oromo family in Wellega, Ethiopia, experienced a tragic event in his early life when his father, who struggled with anger issues, took the life of his own brother. This act led to his father's execution. Sad and embittered, Abdissa enlisted in the Army of the Ethiopian Empire|Imperial Ethiopian Army at the age of 14, to fight against the Kingdom of Italy in 1936 within Ethiopia. He steadily climbed the ranks, eventually attaining the esteemed position of general. However, despite his valiant efforts during the resistance against the Italians, Abdissa faced defeat and was subsequently sent to a POW concentration camp situated in southern Italy.

Breakage from the concentration camp

While Abdissa's stay in concentration camp, he had met with a few other POW from different countries around the world. Abdissa had met a Yugoslav hero, Captain Julio, and they both successfully freed themselves from the prison with a dozen of other men. A few days later, Abdissa and his men returned to the camp at night to help other prisoners escape. They did so while fighting the Fascist forces, many of whom feared Abdissa.
