Air Techniques is a medical device company that manufactures innovative dental care products.[1] The company is headquartered in Melville, New York[2]

History

Air Techniques was founded in 1962 and headquartered in Melville, New York, by George Kauer, Jack Alpert, and Louis E. Brooks. The company's breakthrough came with the launch of Dento-Dri, a high-capacity compressed air dryer for dental systems, swiftly positioning itself as an industry frontrunner. Air Techniques maintains an extensive catalog encompassing utility systems, digital imaging, and merchandise, catering to practices ranging from individual practitioners to large institutions.[3]

The company holds the ISO-9001 registration certification, reflecting its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. Notably, the company stands as North America's largest manufacturer of evacuation systems for dental practices, offering a comprehensive array of vacuum systems accommodating practices of varying scales, from small entities to establishments boasting over 250 operatories.[4]

In 2012, the company celebrated its 50th anniversary by unveiling a renewed corporate identity marked by a new logo and the tagline "equipped for life™" alongside an updated dental catalog and website.

In 2015, Air Techniques introduced a dynamic version of its website, featuring a modern design for enhanced user experience, mobile responsiveness, and region-specific categorization. The website is categorized into five regions: North America, Latin America, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Asia Pacific. Additionally, a dealer-only section offers privileged access to information and literature for partners. The cohesive design ensures a consistent user experience across regions and dealer access.

Additionally, in 2017, the company introduced the ScanX Swift dental scanner,[5] which utilizes flexible phosphor sensor technology to facilitate digital radiography.[6]

Notably, in 2022, the company celebrated its 60th anniversary, marking six decades of serving the dental industry.[7][8]

In November 2023, Air Techniques introduced the ScanX Swift View 2.0 and redesigned AirStar Air Compressors. The ScanX Swift View 2.0 enhances diagnostic efficiency through features like LED lighting, intelligent automation, and seamless integration with ScanX IDX PSPs, facilitating the scanning of intraoral phosphor storage plates of various formats. The device offers a customizable LED lighting system, allowing users to select colors that complement their practice's interior design alongside a high-resolution display for a user-friendly interface.[9]

The redesigned AirStar prioritizes improved performance, aesthetics, and efficiency in dental air compressors. The AirStar introduces new components designed to draw in cooler air, optimizing overall performance without compromising reliability and longevity.
