Alex Mapp (born May 6, 1998)[1] is an American professional soccer player who plays as a defender for Beaconsfield Town in the Southern League Division One Central.
Early Life and Education
Mapp was born in Medina, Ohio, and attended Highland High School. He played club soccer for Internationals Soccer Academy in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy (USSDA). In February 2016, he committed to playing college soccer at the University of Akron.[2]
College Career
Akron Zips (2016–2017)
Mapp joined the Akron Zips men's soccer team in 2016 but did not appear in a match during his first season. In 2017, Akron advanced to the NCAA College Cup semifinals.[3]
Ashland Eagles (2018–2019)
In 2018, Mapp transferred to Ashland University, where he played under head coach Oliver Slawson.[4]
Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (2021)
In 2021, Mapp transferred to Coastal Carolina University, competing in the Sun Belt Conference. The team qualified for the NCAA Tournament that year and played against Wake Forest in the first round.[5]
Professional Career
Vänersborgs IF (2021–2023)
In July 2021, Mapp signed his first professional contract with Vänersborgs IF, a club in Ettan Fotboll Södra, Sweden’s third tier.[6] He made his professional debut on August 18, 2021, in a Swedish Cup match against GAIS.
During the 2022 season, he made four league appearances, but was injured several times.[7]
In 2023, he suffered a shoulder dislocation in a match against Åtvidabergs FF.[8]
Mapp played for Vänersborgs IF from July 2021 to December 2023, making 29 total league appearances.
Sporting Kristina (2024)
In early 2024, Mapp signed with Sporting Kristina, a club in Kolmonen (the Finnish fourth tier). He made his league debut against Vaasa IFK.[9] His player profile is listed on the club's official website.[10]
Beaconsfield Town (2024–Present)
In July 2024, Mapp joined Beaconsfield Town, playing in the Southern League Division One Central.[11]
