Ant Williams is a New Zealand-born, Australian freediver who formerly held the Guinness World Record for the deepest freedive under ice.[1]
Career
Williams trained as a professional freediver and gained recognition in international freediving circles for extreme and under-ice diving. He combined his athletic pursuits with public speaking and coaching on performance under pressure.
World record under ice
In March 2019, Williams set a Guinness World Record for the deepest freedive under ice, reaching a depth of 70 metres beneath a frozen lake in Norway.[2][3]
Retirement and succession
Following his record-setting dive, Williams retired from competitive freediving.[4] In 2021, his record was surpassed by Russian freediver Alexey Molchanov, who reached a depth of 80 metres under ice in Lake Baikal.[5][6]
