Business Filings, Inc., also known as BizFilings, is an American company that provides online legal document services and business formation services.[5] The company provides corporate formation, limited liability company (LLC) formation, registered agent services, and legal compliance support primarily for small businesses.[6] Since 2002, it has been owned by CT Corporation, a subsidiary of Wolters Kluwer.

History

Founding

Business Filings, Inc. was founded in 1996 by Brian Wiegand and Rick Oster. The company distinguished itself from established incorporation firms by conducting its business primarily over the Internet.[2]

Acquisition by CT Corporation

In 2002, Business Filings was acquired by CT Corporation, a subsidiary of Dutch information services firm Wolters Kluwer. The company began operating under the trade name BizFilings in 2006.[4]

BizFilings acquisitions

In 2006, BizFilings acquired The Delaware Company[7], a business filing service founded by Jay Stamper. In 2017, the company acquired Delaware Intercorp[8], a provider of business filing, registered agent, and office support services based in Newark, Delaware.

Recent developments

In 2020, BizFilings partnered with 1800Accountant to provide tax consultation and support services to its customers.[9]

Services

BizFilings provides business formation services for various entity types including corporations, LLCs, nonprofit corporations, and partnerships. The company also offers registered agent services, foreign qualification assistance, and compliance support tools across all 50 U.S. states and Washington, D.C.
