Bob Bransford (9 June 1925 – 8 December 2001) was an animator who worked at several cartoon studios from 1952 to 1992.
Early Life
Bob Bransford was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Bransford of West Springfield, Massachusetts. He graduated from West Springfield High School in 1943 and was inducted into the United States Navy, where his tour of duty took him to the Solomon Islands and the Philippines. After leaving the Navy, he worked at various jobs, then in 1950 he enrolled at Billy Hon's Cartoon School.[1]
Animation Career
Bransford began his career in 1952 with brief stints at Warner Bros. Cartoons and Walt Disney Animation before he returned to the Warner's studio and joined the Chuck Jones unit. He was a highly regarded assistant to Abe Levitow in the 1950s and first received screen credit in the 1960 Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote short Hopalong Casualty, directed by Chuck Jones. He worked steadily in the Jones unit through War and Pieces (1964) and helped animate ten Road Runner cartoons under the direction of Rudy Larriva in 1965-1966. Stints at Filmation, DePatie-Freleng Enterprises, Hanna-Barbera and Disney followed over the remainder of his career.[2][3]
