Carolyn Irene Staffieri (née Jones; born February 1, 1971) is an American poet, author, and former registered nurse known for her advocacy on epilepsy awareness. Her literary work often explores themes of faith, hope, and personal resilience.

Early life and education

Carolyn was born in Wilmington, Delaware, and raised in a single-parent household by her mother, Penny H. Myers, a teacher. Her father, Gary R. Jones, was also a teacher. At the age of ten, her mother remarried. During her youth, Carolyn was active in competitive swimming and demonstrated musical talents as a pianist, vocalist, and French horn player in the Moravian Trombone Choir. She pursued nursing education at the Lancaster General Hospital School of Nursing.

Career

Carolyn worked as a registered nurse specializing in pediatric intensive care and neonatal intensive care units, focusing primarily on pediatrics. Her nursing career was interrupted by her battle with epilepsy, which spanned over three decades. This health challenge led her to discover a passion for poetry, allowing her to express her experiences and offer encouragement to others facing similar struggles. In 2025, she published her first book, "With Me: A Poetic Expression of God's Faithfulness," which reflects on her journey and faith.

Epilepsy advocacy

Carolyn's personal experience with epilepsy has made her an advocate for awareness and support for those affected by the condition. Through her poetry and public engagements, she aims to inspire hope and resilience in others facing similar health challenges.

Personal life

Carolyn Staffieri is married to John P. Staffieri, and they have two children, Abigail Barstow and Nathan J. Staffieri. They also have three grandchildren. She resides in Lititz, Pennsylvania, and enjoys reading, writing poetry, and spending time with her family.
