Cecilia Davies was a Gambian politician.[1] Davies was one of the first women in The Gambia to be elected to a governmental body.
1946 elections
Davies and Hannah Forster defeated eight male candidates in the October 1946 elections[2] to the Bathurst Town Council (the predecessor of today's Banjul City Council) in the Soldier Town ward[3] of the Gambian capital.
A few years earlier, Hannah Mahoney had been a member of the Bathurst Advisory Town Council, but she had not been elected to office.
