Cyphercor is a is a Canadian technology company[1] that develops multi-factor authentication (MFA) solutions. It is headquartered in Kanata, Ontario, and produces authentication products used by organizations to secure access to digital systems.[2] The company was co-founded in 2011 by Hernan and Diego Matute.[3]
History
Cyphercor was incorporated in Canada on 5 September 2008 under the Canada Business Corporations Act. Originally operating under the name KanataIT Consulting Inc., the company changed its name to Cyphercor Inc. in 2011.[4]
In 2021, an on-premises version of their multi-factor authentication solution was released.[5]
Cyphercor has participated in technology evaluation and procurement programs within the Government of Canada and has worked with Shared Services Canada and Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) on testing and deployment of authentication solutions.[6] In 2022, Cyphercor entered a strategic partnership with Canadian cyber insurance firm BOXX Insurance, now owned by Zurich Insurance Group, under which the company’s multi-factor authentication technology was offered as part of BOXX’s cyber insurance offerings.[7]
Patents
Cyphercor holds three patents related to authentication technology. In 2023, a patent (US 11706212 B2) was issued for a method involving push-based authentication, which was originally filed in 2014.[8] Cyphercor’s patent portfolio also includes other issued and pending patents covering aspects of multi-factor authentication processes.
