Dragon Champions is a free-to-play Role playing game developed by Russian development studio PlayQuantum and published by mobile game publisher AppQuantum. The game is available for Android (operating system) and iOS platforms. Dragon Champions was released worldwide on September 30, 2019.

Gameplay

Dragon Champions is a Role playing game|role-playing game with turn-based battles in a fantasy setting. The gameplay of Dragon Champions regularly invites the player to solve tactical tasks of varying difficulty. The chosen dragon will have to assemble a team of heroes for arena battles with other users, completing story campaigns and other modes. The success of battles largely depends on the selection of the right team.

Plot

The action takes place in the magical world of Korador. Centuries ago, the fantastic world of Korador was under the supervision of the gods. But after discord arose in the divine pantheon, the Dragons were given the right to protect Korador and its races.

Many years later, for unknown reasons, the events of the world ceased to interest the Protectors. Humans and orcs, elves and goblins rebelled against each other in civil strife. The Pandas and the Pride did not want to enter the bloody carnage and hid away in their lands, ready to repel any attack from the outside. At the moment when the great Korador was weakened by wars, demons invaded, fueled by the hatred and fear of all the inhabitants of the fantastic empire.

Dragon Champions shows the relationship between two factions: the Order of the White Flame and the Wasteland Clans. The Order includes people, elves, pandas and gnomes. The Сlans have united orcs, goblins, half-pigs and beastmen — anthropomorphic animals endowed with special powers. The warriors of the two factions have long been fighting, but difficult times force them to throw a joint challenge to the new threat. On the one hand, demon warriors, on the other, the mysterious Reflections, the villain Konrad Savitar's creations. Now the Order of the White Flame and the Clans of the Wasteland need to gather their forces together and take the side of good, postponing their personal conflict until later.

Heroes

There are 9 races in Dragon Champions. The basic version of the game contained 7 races: humans, elves, pandas, orcs, goblins, pride, and demons. The HalfSeige update added two more: gnomes and half-pigs. Races do not affect the completion of the story campaign, but they are of great importance in Tournaments, since only heroes of specific races can take part in certain Tournaments. Also, the race of the hero is crucial when forming a team for the abilities of the chosen leader.

Heroes in Dragon Champions are divided into 6 classes: defenders, healers, warriors, mages, rangers and rogues. You can summon a hero using hero stones obtained from completing various activities. They can also be purchased from the store using Dracoins and other in-game currencies.

Some legendary heroes can be received by completing special events.

Reception

Dragon Champions was well received by its audience. BlueStacks noted in their game review that: Dragon Champions is one of the newest gacha mechanic games on the gaming market. It is PlayQuantum's first project, and this was an excellent first attempt considering “the presentation, graphics, and performance”.[1]

RBK games mentioned: “In general, the game does not cause negative emotions and even captures attention. Each of the heroes' statements is unique and not simply generated. Usually games of this genre lack such depth”.[2]
