History
ENRX was founded in March 2023 through the merger of two established entities: EFD Induction and IPT Technology. EFD Induction traces its origins to 1950, when German company Induktionserwärmung Fritz Düsseldorf GmbH (FDF) introduced its first universal induction hardening machine. In 1981, Norwegian engineers established ELVA Induksjon AS, which merged with FDF in 1996 to form EFD Induction. IPT Technology, founded in 1996, was one of Europe’s first providers of inductive charging systems. In 2021, IPT acquired PRIMOVE from Bombardier, further expanding its wireless charging capabilities.[1]
Technology
ENRX's core technologies are based on electromagnetic induction. Induction heating enables precise, efficient, and contactless heat generation in conductive materials and is used in a wide variety of industrial processes. Applications include annealing, brazing, forging, hardening, Melting, Preheating, Post-heating, Tempering, welding, shrink fitting, Straightening, Paint removal, Bonding, and Wire and cable heating.
These heating solutions are used in industries such as automotive, electrotechnical and HVAC, mining, assembly production, renewable energy, and tube and pipe manufacturing. Use cases include joining, forming, curing, and metal treatment processes.
In addition to heating, ENRX develops wireless charging and contactless power supply systems based on inductive power transfer. ENRX offers industrial wireless charging systems (1–50 kW) for AGVs, mobile robots, and forklifts. It also provides static high-power charging solutions (50–300 kW) for electric buses and commercial vehicles. Additionally, ENRX develops Dynamic Electric Roadway Charging technology (220 kW) to enable in-motion charging of trucks and public transport.
ENRX also supplies contactless power solutions for rail-guided transport in factories and logistics hubs. Applications include automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS), inductive elevators, electrified monorail systems, and cross belt sorters. These systems serve industries such as intralogistics, production assembly, amusement parks, and the automotive sector.
Technological Contributions
In 2023, ENRX was awarded a US$13.6 million contract to deploy a dynamic wireless charging system for electric vehicles on a highway in Florida, enabling charging while driving.[2] ENRX also collaborates with InductEV to standardize high-power wireless charging systems globally.[3]
According to ENRX’s 2023 Sustainability Report, the company has installed more than 30,000 induction systems in over 80 countries, deployed over 200 kilometers of contactless power tracks, and powered more than 30 million kilometers of wireless electric vehicle travel.[4]

ENRX is majority-owned by Arendals Fossekompani (AFK), an industrial investment firm focused on energy and technology sectors. Founded in 1896, AFK operates hydropower plants and has been listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange since 1913. The company is headquartered in Arendal, Norway.
