E Stream Software Sdn. Bhd. (commonly known as E Stream or E Stream MSC or SQL Account HQ) is a Malaysian technology company that develops and provides business management software solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). E Stream offers on-premise, cloud-based, and hybrid cloud systems that support accounting, payroll, and other business management operations. E Stream’s solutions are offered under a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model and are available either through lifetime licenses or subscription plans, depending on the package type and the number of companies or entities managed. E Stream is headquartered in Setia Alam, Selangor, with an additional office located in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur.
History
2003-2010 E Stream was founded in 2003 by Desmond Law Hoe Yen, Neo Yih Chyn, and Chau Chee Yang. The company began its journey from a small office at i-SoVo @ i-City, Shah Alam, Selangor. Desmond Law, with his accounting background, teamed up with Neo Yih Chyn and Chau Chee Yang, who brought expertise in business and software development. Together, they created SQL Account and SQL Payroll, designed to provide comprehensive digital business solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). After five years of continuous growth, the company moved to a larger headquarters at Setia Alam, Shah Alam, Selangor.
2011–2020
From 2011 onward, E Stream introduced additional modules for point-of-sale (POS), inventory management, and business analytics, offering a more complete digital solution for SMEs.
When Goods and Services Tax (GST) was introduced in 2015, E Stream ensured that SQL Account was fully compliant with Malaysia’s tax reporting requirements..[1]. Later, when Sales and Service Tax (SST) replaced GST in 2018, the system was once again updated to meet the new regulations, reinforcing SQL’s reputation for reliability and compliance [2].
In 2019, E Stream and its SQL Account software received the Sin Chew Business Excellence Award for Best Accounting Software [3]. E Stream also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PayRecon to integrate SQL Account with popular e-commerce platforms, helping businesses synchronize their online sales data with their accounting systems [4].
When the COVID-19 pandemic breaks out in Malaysia, E Stream accelerated its move to the cloud, launching SQL Cloud to help businesses manage their operations remotely and securely [5].
2021–2025
E Stream’s dedication to customer experience and innovation earned it the Star Outstanding Business Award (SOBA) in 2021 for Best in Customer Service [6]. In 2022, the company expanded its influence in education by partnering with institutions such as the University of Nottingham Malaysia, providing students access to SQL software to enhance their practical skills and employability [7].
As Malaysia prepared for the e-Invoice implementation [8], E Stream played an active role in the nation’s digital transformation. In 2024, the company updated SQL Account to fully support Malaysia’s e-Invoice framework under Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri Malaysia (LHDN) and Peppol standards [9].
By 2025, E Stream serving over 320,000 companies and 600,000 professionals, supported by 1,000 partners and 400 service centers nationwide [10]. The company continues to innovate, helping businesses across Malaysia and Southeast Asia embrace digital transformation with confidence.
In the same year, E Stream was honored with the Golden Bull Award 2025 under the Outstanding Bull category, a prestigious recognition celebrating successful and high-performing Malaysian enterprises for their growth and excellence [11]. During the nationwide 2025 e-invoice implementation period, the company achieved RM 5 million in revenue. E Stream also expanded its operational capacity and customer support network by opening an additional headquarters at PV128, Setapak.
