Hannan Medispa Sdn Bhd (doing business as Hannan Medispa) is a Malaysian med spa beauty centre, established with their business core objective "to make the world a more beautiful place."[1]

Overview

Founded by Dr.Mohd Hannan Yusof in 2012, Hannan Medispa uses advanced technology and innovative treatments with many different ingredients in the production of their skin care line for their clients' beauty treatment.[2]

With more than 100 outlets[3] and more than 3 million customers throughout Malaysia, Hannan Medispa is considered as the leading and revolutionizing brand in aesthetic industry in Malaysia. The med spa brand focuses on natural beauty treatment primarily for face, acne and pigmentation therapy as well as body slimming. The company also offers a wide range of skin care, hair and body treatments beauty products under the brand Hannan Cosmetics.

All their med spa outlets feature a modern and comfortable interior design, which was considered a change from traditional spa design available elsewhere in Malaysia. According to the founder, the company strives on offering a feel of luxury, relaxation and rejuvenation from the moment their client steps into their outlet.

History

Founder

In 2012, Dr.Mohd Hannan bin Mohd Yusof founded Hannan Medispa Sdn Bhd. He is also the CEO the company. A medical doctor by profession, Dr.Hannan is an expert in Cosmetic Dermatology, Botulinum Toxin A & Filler, Anti-Aging Medicine, Mesotheraphy, Aesthetic Gynaecology procedures and Sclerotherapy. He is also a member of American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine.[4]

As of 2023, he owns more than 100 branches of Hannan Medispa all around Malaysia covering South and North of Malaysia[5] Among the awards won by Dr.Hannan includes the Award Winning Spa & Best Cosmetics, Anugerah Personaliti Industri & Usahawan Malaysia in 2017.[6]

Throughout his business ventures, Dr.Hannan also helps the community social development with his entrepreneurship opportunities and charities.

History

After two years of serving as a medical officer, Dr.Hannan left the medical field in order to fulfil his passion in aesthetic business. Beginning with a clinic named Klinik Primer Kota Bharu, situated in the state of Kelantan, the spa was founded in 2012. Although initially suffering some business setbacks, the revenue was closing in on RM 2 million within the first two years of the med spa establishment. He then went to Korea, United Kingdom and Taiwan to learn more about beauty and cosmetics and follow up the latest technology and latest treatment for beauty.

Later in 2014, he opened Hannan & Por Clinic in Subang, Selangor, which expanded into Hannan Clinic in 2018.[7]

Expansion

With experience of more than seven years, Hannan Medispa then expanded their business outside of Kelantan in 2019. The second branch was opened in Bangi and followed by Shah Alam, both in Selangor. As for 2023, Hannan Medispa has more than 100 branches all around Malaysia and plans to expand their outlets up to 150 nationwide in the near future.

Hannan Medispa Malaysia offers an extensive range of their brand's signature treatments and therapies. Among the popular treatments offered are facial and skin rejuvenation, hair styling and body contouring; technologies such as Cleopatra[8] and Chemical Peel.

Product Safety

Hannan Medispa's own skin care factory in Muar, Johor is certified with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) recognition certificate and certified by the Malaysian Ministry of Health.[11]

Partnerships and Affiliation

On 20 March 2019, Malaysian women's rugby sevens team announced Hannan Medispa as their first sponsorship partner, focusing more on the players welfare.[12]

On April 19, 2019, the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) and Hannan Medispa Sdn Bhd established a smart collaboration through a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the two parties that enables Hannan Medispa to use the results of research done by IIUM researchers for commercialization.[13] The extract from Piper Betel leaves produced by IIUM researchers will be used in their upcoming line of cosmetic products.

On 20 August 2019, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with Hannan Medispa Group to produce a prototype to help patients suffering from 'facial pain'. Hannan Medispa agreed to channel funds to fund the research until the innovation product known as 'Face UP v1.0' is produced.[14] On 2 May 2023, USM through Usains Infotech Sdn. Bhd. signed a licensing agreement with Hannan Medispa Sdn. Bhd. to commercialize the 'Mofresh White' product, a whitening toothpaste combined with a whitening pen designed to maximize cleaning and whitening without damaging teeth.[15]

On 10 March 2023, Hannan Medispa strengthened its position by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with SIRIM Bhd[16]. SIRIM will be the main supplier of raw materials for the cosmetic products that they produce. The first raw material supplied in their product is a pineapple extract called 'bromelain'.

Brand and Industry Awards

In 2017, Hannan Medispa was awarded the Best Spa & Cosmetic Award Malaysia by the Malaysian Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-Operatives and Consumerism.[17][18]. It won the same award again in 2018.

In the same year, the brand also won the Anugerah Belai Diri Jelita 2017 for the category Best Oxygen Treatment for Face ( Oxycrio Treatment) [19]

In 2018, one of the company's treatment was awarded the Best Microdermabrasion Treatment for Annual Female Spa Awards 2018.[20] Later in the same year, the brand was awarded the Industry Leadership Award by Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-Operatives and Consumerism[21]

Other Ventures

  • 115 by Kimarie and Hannan is a hair, beauty and nail services salon in Bangsar. Kuala Lumpur.[22]
  • Hannan Clinic provides treatment that cannot be operated under Hannan Medispa. As of now, there is only one Hannan Clinic which is currently located at Alam Avenue, Shah Alam. This clinic offers procedures such as whitening injection service, plastic surgery and Botox
  • Aestech Pro Enterprise[23] is a cosmetic factory, with its main office in Johor Bharu owned by Hannan Medispa Sdn Bhd. Hannan Cosmetics are produced under this plant. All the raw materials are directly imported from United State of America and Korea.
