Harold Jan R. Terano.[1] is a Professor VI at the College of Engineering and Architecture of Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC). In 2019, he rose through the academic ranks from Instructor I to Professor I and became one of the youngest full-fledged professors accredited by the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC). He currently serves as the Director of the Research and Development Services Office and Head of the Center for Futures Thinking and Strategic Foresight [2]
He earned his Bachelor’s (2010) and Master’s (2014) degrees in Electronics Engineering from Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, and completed his Doctorate in Mathematics Education at Bicol University in 2023.
He has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles [3] and books in engineering mathematics and sciences[4] and holds a registered utility model with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines [5]. In 2022, Dr. Terano was recognized as CSPC’s first-ever recipient of the Best Researcher of the Year Award and is currently ranked as the top Researcher in the institution based on the Alper-Doger (AD) Scientific Index [6].
Dr. Terano has also led and participated in externally funded research and extension projects supported by DOST, DSWD, CHED, and DBM. He serves as a peer reviewer, research evaluator, and consultant in research and publication for various academic institutions. In 2023, he was elected as a regular member of the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) [7].
He has spearheaded major institutional initiatives, including the establishment of three research centers focused on renewable energy, social sciences and policy, and futures thinking. In addition, he has authored numerous institutional academic and research policies, founded two international journals as Editor-in-Chief [8], and launched an annual international conference, which he has convened since 2021 [9]
