Helen Berggruen is an American artist. Based in Northern California, Berggruen is known for her paintings of landscapes, still lives, and interiors.[1] She attended Sarah Lawrence College, where she befriended classmate Alice Walker, and participated in the Civil rights movement in Alabama in 1964.[2][3] After graduating from Sarah Lawrence, she moved to New York and collaborated with Robert Wilson on experimental theater productions in Europe, also acting in them.[4][5][6]

Since focusing on painting, Berggruen's work has been exhibited at art institutions and galleries that include Fischbach Gallery, the Berkeley Art Center, George Krevsky Gallery, the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, and the Napa Valley Museum.[7][1][8][9] In 2022, Berggruen was a resident artist at Elizabethtown College, where her work was exhibited at the Demuth Museum.[10][11]

She is the daughter of the German art collector Heinz Berggruen, and has three siblings: John, Nicolas, and Olivier.[12]
