Hugh Hill (born 1957) is a former Scottish Professional Football player[1][2]
Career
During his playing career, Hill initially played Junior football for Blantyre Vics, before moving onto the professional game with Albion Rovers (where he was voted Player of the Year for season 1979/80), Arbroath, East Fife, Falkirk and Brechin City (where he won the Scottish 2nd Division Football League Championship, season 1989/90) before returning to Junior football for a final year where he won the Central Region SJFA Premier League title, season 1992/93 with Petershill FC. Throughout his playing career, Hill played across all three tiers of the Scottish League format at the time, Premier, First and Second Divisions. In a third round League Cup tie in August 1986 for East Fife against Glasgow Rangers he infamously had a penalty kick saved by Chris Woods in a penalty shoot out, after a 0 - 0 draw and extra time, which ensured Rangers progression into the next round where they then went on to win the League Cup that season.
Despite joining Professional Football, Hill remained part time by continuing to work as a Fitter prior to retiring from his position as a Customer Services Engineer with Thales Optronics in 2021.
