Jard Schuit is a Dutch basketball trainer, coach, and former professional player. He is a co-founder of the basketball training organizations All Day Athletes (ADA) and the 3x3 Academy. Schuit works as a personal skills trainer for professional players in the NBA, NCAA, and European leagues, including Quinten Post, Malevy Leons, Jesse Edwards, and Emmanuel Ugbo.[1] In 3x3 basketball, he has served as a coach for the Dutch national federation. NOS has credited his work with contributing to the national teams' international results, including the men's gold medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics and 5th place finish at the 2020 Summer Olympics, as well as the women's victories at the 2025 FIBA 3x3 World Cup and FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup.[2] The Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant has noted Schuit's role in the recent development of Dutch basketball talent.[3]

Playing career

Schuit played professional basketball as a point guard. He was on the roster for Apollo Amsterdam in the Dutch Basketball League (DBL) during the 2012–2013 season.[4]

Coaching and training career

Following his playing career, Schuit transitioned to coaching and player development. He co-founded All Day Athletes (ADA), a player development organization in Amsterdam, and the 3x3 Academy.[5][6][7]

3x3 Basketball

Dutch media have referred to Schuit as a "basketball professor" in relation to the development of Dutch 3x3 basketball and the national team's Olympic gold medal.[2] He served as an assistant coach for the Dutch national 3x3 team, where he was responsible for opponent analysis during tournaments.[8] Players he has trained on the FIBA 3x3 World Tour include Arvin Slagter, Dimeo van der Horst, Maarten Bouwknecht, Julian Jaring, Jan Driessen, Worthy de Jong, and Jesper Jobse.[9] Schuit's individual training has also been utilised by Olympic gold medalist Worthy de Jong.[3]

Player Development

Schuit trains Dutch players who have transitioned to the NBA and college basketball. He is the personal trainer of Quinten Post, the first Dutch player drafted into the NBA in 15 years (selected by the Golden State Warriors), as well as Jesse Edwards, Malevy Leons, and Tristan Enaruna.[2][10][11][12][13][14] According to De Volkskrant, Schuit's training methods emphasise live game simulations over repetitive drills. He has also trained Endurance Aiyamenkhue, who later received invitations to NBA training camps.[3]
