Jon Jansen-Alder is a British solicitor and in-house legal counsel. He serves as the General Counsel of Lucid Group, a global healthcare communications company, and has appeared as a speaker and moderator at several industry conferences focused on legal leadership and organisational culture.[1][2]
Early life and education
Jansen-Alder studied Geography (BSc) at the University of Surrey and completed an MSc in Satellite Remote Sensing at University College London (UCL). He earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course from the College of Law, qualifying as a solicitor in England and Wales on 15 April 2008.[3]
Career
Simplyhealth (2016–2021)
From 2016 to 2021, Jansen-Alder was General Counsel and Company Secretary at Simplyhealth, overseeing legal, compliance, and corporate-governance functions.[4]
Lucid Group (2021–present)
In 2021 he joined Lucid Group as General Counsel, leading the company’s legal and risk strategy across operations in the UK and United States.[1]
Speaking and thought leadership
Jansen-Alder has spoken at a range of legal-industry events, including The Lawyer’s General Counsel Strategy Summit and the General Counsel Forum Europe in Madrid, where he delivered a keynote address titled Burnout by Design.[5]
During this talk, he introduced the concept of The Unseen Contract, describing the implicit expectations within the legal profession that can contribute to overwork and burnout. According to Jansen-Alder, these “unwritten clauses” concern people, culture, and technology in legal teams.[5]
