Kathy Speirs (born 8 March 1971) is a Welsh film producer. She produced the award-winning film Moon Dogs and is the founder of the production company Up Helly Aa.[1]
Early life and education
Speirs was born in Port Talbot, Wales.[1] She studied Community Education at the University of Edinburgh.[2]
Career
Speirs began producing film projects in Scotland. Her first feature film as producer was Moon Dogs, directed by Philip John, which premiered in 2016.[1]
Moon Dogs won the Best International First Feature Film Award at the Galway Film Fleadh.[3] The film also received the Jury Award and Audience Award at the Newport Beach Film Festival.[4] The film was nominated for Best Film at the 2016 BAFTA Scotland Awards.[5]
In 2020, Speirs produced the feature film Concrete Plans, directed by Will Jewell, which premiered at FrightFest.[6][7][8]
Spiers also produced the films Jailbroken (2025) and The Life and Death of Daniel Dee (TBC). For TV, she created First Footing (2022) and Pity Party (2019) for BBC Scotland.[9]
