Katie Tavini is a British mastering engineer based in Liverpool[1][2], known for her work with artists including Los Bitchos, Bloc Party, Amber run, Moonchild Sanelly, John Glacier, Maruja, Kate Nash, Rudimental and Nadine Shah.
Tavini's work includes numerous popular releases across indie rock, experimental pop, electronic, and alternative genres, with an expansive discography including thousands of credits covering albums, EPs, and singles [3][4][5].
Tavini began her career in audio engineering at Limefield Studio in Manchester, under the mentorship of studio owner John Ellis (The Cinematic Orchestra) and producer Bill Leader, Tavini gained experience in recording and mixing. She has credited Leader’s extensive experience as an engineer and producer as instrumental in shaping her early career.[6]
Her later career shifted towards mastering. MusicRadar has described her as “a key figure in the mastering arena for over a decade,” noting her credits with artists including Ash, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Nadine Shah, and Arlo Parks..[7]
In addition to her mastering work, Tavini has contributed to the professional audio press as a columnist for Audio Media International, where she has written about career development and studio practice in the industry.[8][9]
Tavini is further noted for her contributions to the music industry, having co-founded '2% Rising', a networking community established to support women, trans and non-binary people in audio,[10] [11] and her position on the Executive Board of the Music Producers Guild (MPG).[12][13]
Tavini now operates her own studio, where she continues to practice audio mastering.[14][15]
