Lagna Panchami (transl. Wedding Panchami; lit. 'The Fifth Day of Marriage') is a 2025 Indian Marathi-language comedy drama play written by Madhugandha Kulkarni and directed by Nipun Dharmadhikari.[1][2] The play is produced by Madhugandha Kulkarni, Swapnil Joshi, Amruta Khanvilkar and Trupti Patil under their joint production banner, Swapragandhamrut.[3]
The play is scheduled to premiere on 9 January 2026 at Shahu Kala Mandir, Satara.
Plot
The play centers on a married couple and explores the complexities of marital life, suggesting that marriage often involves navigating multiple personalities within a single relationship. Through everyday situations and domestic conflicts, the narrative highlights how differing moods, expectations, and behaviours shape the dynamics between husband and wife. As the story unfolds, misunderstandings and emotional shifts lead to moments of tension as well as humour, reflecting the unpredictable nature of companionship. The play uses these interactions to examine the emotional highs and lows of marriage, portraying the challenges and adjustments that define a couple’s shared life.

Production
Lagna Panchami marks actress Amruta Khanvilkar’s theatre debut and the second stage production for actor Swapnil Joshi after twelve years, following his appearance in the play Get Well Soon.[6][7] The two actors were previously paired in the Marathi television series Jeevlaga (2019).[8]
Release
The play premiered on 9 January 2026 at Shahu Kala Mandir, Satara. Subsequent performances are scheduled to be held at Vishnudas Bhave Natya Mandir in Sangli, Yashwantrao Chavan Natya Gruha and Bal Gandharva Rang Mandir in Pune, as well as Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Natyagriha and Prabodhankar Thackeray Auditorium in Mumbai.[9]
