Luka Matthew Grishaj is an American-Albanian goalkeeper who competes in the MLS NEXT youth system with Blau Weiss Gottschee. He is also an NCE International Select player, recognized for his advanced technical ability, strong command of the penalty area, and consistent performances against top-level competition. Born on April 21, 2012, in Flushing, New York, Luka has already distinguished himself as one of the most promising young goalkeepers in his age group. He is most notably recognized as the 2025 MLS NEXT Goalkeeper of the Year.
Luka began his youth career with Blau Weiss Gottschee in February 2022, where he quickly established himself as a standout presence in goal. His development has been further strengthened through his involvement with the National Center of Excellence (NCE), an elite training and identification program. Through NCE, he has competed in multiple high-level tournaments, including the Winter Invitational in Danbury during the 2023–24, 2024–25, and 2025–26 seasons.
On December 1, 2024, Luka was selected for the prestigious Italy Pro Player Pathway Showcase in Milan, held from April 14 to April 21. His performances during the showcase drew significant attention, particularly a standout match against the Hellas Verona Youth Academy, where he recorded 16 saves and secured a clean sheet in a 0–0 draw—an effort widely praised for its composure, reflexes, and resilience under pressure.
