History
Lumu was founded in 2019 by Ricardo Villadiego, a cybersecurity entrepreneur who previously founded Easy Solutions (acquired by Cyxtera).[1]
In March 2021, the company raised a $7.5 million Series A funding round co-led by SoftBank Group's Opportunity Fund and Panoramic Ventures.[1]
In September 2023, Lumu closed a $30 million Series B investment round led by Forgepoint Capital, with participation from existing investors.[2]
In 2025, the World Economic Forum selected Lumu Technologies as a "Technology Pioneer," a program that recognizes early-stage companies involved in new technologies.[3]
Technology
Lumu's software focuses on network metadata analysis to detect security compromises. The company utilizes a proprietary model it calls "Continuous Compromise Assessment" to monitor network traffic across cloud, on-premise, and remote environments.[2] The platform integrates with other security tools to automate response actions, such as blocking malicious connections.[2]
