Mikey Jones (born January 18, 1978) is an American drummer and multi-instrumentalist based in New York City. He is known for his work in the alternative and shoegaze rock scenes, contributing to the recording and touring lineups of Swervedriver, The Lemonheads, Caveman, Bolts of Melody, and LSD and the Search for God.
Early Life
Jones was born and raised in the Bay View neighborhood of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He relocated to New York City in the early 2000s, where he established himself as a prominent session and live drummer in New York City.
Career Highlights
Jones has contributed to numerous acts across the independent rock spectrum:
- Swervedriver: He has been the touring drummer for Swervedriver since 2011 and is credited on their albums I Wasn't Born to Lose You (2015).[1] and Future Ruins (2019)[2].
- The Lemonheads: He drummed on The Lemonheads album Varshons 2 (2019)[3] and has been a frequent touring collaborator with Evan Dando.
- Adam Franklin and Bolts of Melody: Jones collaborated extensively with Swervedriver's frontman, Adam Franklin, drumming on three of his side project's releases: I Could Sleep for a Thousand Years,[4] Black Horses,[5] and Film Noir.
- Heaven (NYC): Jones was a founding member and the drummer for the Brooklyn-based group Heaven, performing on all of their releases, including their album Telepathic Love[6].
- Caveman: Jones has been the **touring drummer for Caveman since 2017**. He also contributed drums to their album Smash (2024)[7].
- LSD and the Search for God: Jones became the official drummer for this shoegaze band in 2025[8]
- Other Bands: His other drumming credits include The Big Sleep, Snowden, and Levy.
