Career

Mirzazada began his acting career in Baku, Azerbaijan, with an early screen credit in Buta (2011).[1]

In 2014, he appeared in the short film Torn (Azerbaijani: Dağılmaq), directed by Elmar Imanov and co-directed by Engin Kundag. The film was selected for the Directors' Fortnight (Quinzaine des Réalisateurs) section of the Cannes Film Festival.[2] Following the Cannes screening, AZERTAC reported on international press coverage of the film and its cast, including Mirzazada.[3]

In 2016, Mirzazada appeared in the short film Shanghai, Baku, directed by Teymur Hajiyev, in the role of Samir. The film screened at the Silk Road Film Festival in Dublin.[4]

In 2019, Mirzazada starred in the lead role of Mahmud in End of Season (German: Ende der Saison; Azerbaijani: Mövsümün sonu), directed by Elmar Imanov. The film was a co-production between Germany and Azerbaijan. It premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in the Bright Future section, where it received the FIPRESCI Prize.[5][6] A review in Cineuropa identified Mahmud as the only family member attempting to act on his own ambitions.[7] The Eastern European Film Bulletin named Mirzazada among the film's three principal actors.[8] For his performance, Mirzazada received the Best Male Actor award at the Moscow Premiere film festival.[9][10]
