Narcis Ciprian Avarvari (born 1971 in Iași, Romania) is a Romanian-French chemist and professor at the University of Angers.
Early life and career
Born in Iași, Romania in 1971,[1] he graduated from Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in 1994.[2] He then pursued postgraduate studies at the École polytechnique, obtaining his Master's degree in organic and organometallic chemistry in 1995 and PhD in Chemistry in 1998.[2][3][4]
After spending a year as a postdoctoral fellow under at ETH Zurich, he became a full-time CNRS researcher at the Jean Rouxel Institute of Materials in Nantes in 1999.[5]
In 2001, he moved to the University of Angers, where he was promoted to CNRS Director of research (DR2) in 2010, DR1 in 2016, and DR Exceptional Class in 2023.[2][4] He also served as an associate professor at the École polytechnique from 2009 to 2022.[5]
During this period, he held guest professorships at Lund University in 2013, Babeș-Bolyai University in 2016, and the Institute for Molecular Science from 2022 to 2023.[5]
Research
He researches on molecular materials, coordination chemistry, and chirality, including tetrathiafulvalene derivatives, metal dithiolene complexes, functional helicenes, and coordination polymers.[5][6]
