O’Shay Edwards is an American professional wrestler who has competed for promotions including Ring of Honor (ROH), Major League Wrestling (MLW), and several independent wrestling circuits. He is known for his heavyweight wrestling style and regularly competes under the nickname "The Big Bad Kaiju."[1]
Early life and background
Edwards was born in Mount Vernon, New York. Prior to his wrestling career, he played college football and worked as a firefighter for approximately 15 years.[2] He has stated that his professional experiences prior to wrestling influenced his perspective and personal development, including his decision to publicly come out as bisexual in 2020.[2]
Professional wrestling career
Training and debut
Edwards trained under Johnny Swinger and Robert Gibson. He made his professional debut on December 16, 2016.[1]
Independent circuit (2016–present)
Following his debut, Edwards began competing across various independent promotions such as Catalyst Wrestling, Intense Wrestling Entertainment (IWE), and Ohio Wrestling Alliance (OWA). He has held several regional titles.[3]
Ring of Honor
In 2021, Edwards joined Ring of Honor and became affiliated with the Shane Taylor Promotions stable. His time with the company included tag and singles matches, as well as appearances on ROH programming prior to the promotion's restructuring in late 2021.[3]
Major League Wrestling
Edwards has made appearances in Major League Wrestling, where he aligned with the BOMAYE Fight Club. He has participated in multiple tapings and live events for the promotion.[4]
Personal life
In July 2020, Edwards publicly came out as bisexual, stating that wrestling had provided a space where he could express his full identity. He has discussed both positive and challenging aspects of navigating the wrestling industry as an openly LGBTQ+ performer.[2]
