PERGOLUX is an outdoor living brand founded in 2021 by Johannes Lauchenauer. It specializes in modern pergola kits with integrated LED lighting and adjustable louvered roofs. The brand also offers related accessories to enhance the outdoor experience, such as heaters, retractable screens, glass walls, and wooden slat walls.
Operating in 14 global markets, PERGOLUX is best known for an aesthetic Scandinavian design, durable construction, and straightforward at‑home assembly. PERGOLUX North America is headquartered in Waterbury, Connecticut, with warehouse and operations facilities in Connecticut and California. The company's mission is to enable homeowners to control their outdoor spaces through intelligent, durable products that are easy to own, adaptable over time, and built to last.[1]
History
PERGOLUX traces its origins to Norway, where long winters and harsh coastal weather inspired a product focus on year‑round outdoor usability. The global increase in demand for outdoor living spaces linked to the COVID‑19 pandemic prompted the founders to develop solutions using Scandinavian‑grade engineering.
The company was formally founded in 2021 and quickly expanded across Europe. It opened its first U.S. warehouse in 2023, then moved into a 50,000 sq. ft. showroom and warehouse hub in Connecticut in January 2024. By September 2024, the company reported customers in all 50 U.S. states and Washington, D.C.
In 2025, PERGOLUX reported operations spanning 14 global markets. By August of that year, PERGOLUX reported surpassing 100,000 customers globally. In October, the company opened a Southern California showroom and light manufacturing hub to strengthen its West Coast logistics.[2]
Products
PERGOLUX designs and manufactures aluminum pergola systems and accessories. The Pergola 4, Pergola 4 Pro, and Pergola 4 Pro Max models offer a range of features to cater to different budgets and needs. These models have been continuously updated across four series.
PERGOLUX’s Series 2 pergolas were introduced in 2024. They provide an updated frame and components with reinforced aluminum for increased wind resistance and snow load capacity. This series incorporated the SnapFIT accessory channel to enable drill‑free, backward‑compatible add‑ons. It also came with RainLUX waterproofing for improved water management.[3]
The 2025 S3 Smart Pergola series integrates native Matter technology for smart home compatibility. It works with Amazon Alexa, Google, and Apple platforms. The series features a 20% stronger louver motor, Bluetooth app control, and a USB‑C rechargeable water‑resistant remote.[4]
In January 2026, custom sizing options became available to U.S. customers. This mirrors a program previously offered in European markets. Finally, the newly released Series 4 boasts a best-in-class durability paired with a one-of-a-kind snap louver system that reduces setup time by 75%.
Across all of its lines, the company emphasizes Scandinavian design, standardized components, and at‑home assembly. Its TÜV‑certified models have been validated for manufacturing quality and structural performance, including wind resistance up to 165 mph and specified snow loads up to 75 pounds per square foot (PSF).[5]
