Ratan Chandra Kar

Ratan Chandra Kar is a health official from Andaman and Nicobar. He is helping the reclusive Jarawa tribe from an outbreak of diseases, like measles from 1998.

In 2023, he is awarded fourth highest civilian Awards, Padma Shri, of the country. [1][2]

Locally, he known as Jarawa Doctor.

Life and Career

Dr. Ratan Chandra Kar was born in 24 Paraganas North[3]. He is a highly skilled general physician and is constantly looking for new and innovative ways to improve the quality of care he provides. He is author of book The Jarawas of the Andamans.[4][5]
