Sashi Perera is an Australian stand-up comedian, writer, and former lawyer. She is known for her work in live comedy festivals across Australia and internationally, as well as for her media appearances and commentary on life transitions and identity.[1][2][3]

Career

Before pursuing comedy, Perera worked as a lawyer, including in the field of refugee and human rights law. She transitioned into stand-up comedy after feeling unfulfilled in her legal career.[1]

Perera has performed at major Australian festivals including the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Sydney Comedy Festival, and the Adelaide Fringe.[2] Her comedy often incorporates themes of identity, endings, and personal transformation.

Her 2023 solo show, Endings, explored mortality and change, and was followed by Boundaries in 2024, which continued her exploration of emotional and cultural themes.[3] She has also performed internationally, including at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Perera has gained a large following through her observational humour and short-form videos on social media platforms. She has also spoken publicly about her personal experiences, including navigating fertility decisions and professional transitions.[4]
