Sharaf Mahama (born 21 September 1996) is a Ghanaian footballer, licensed FIFA football agent, and sports development advocate. He is the son of former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, and former First Lady Lordina Mahama. Mahama is known for his involvement in youth sports development, football management, and Ghana’s boxing promotion landscape through his organization, Legacy Rise Sports.
Early life and education
Sharaf Mahama was born in Ghana and grew up in a public-facing family due to his father’s political career. According to GhLinks, he developed an early interest in sports, particularly football and boxing, and later pursued studies in business management at Arden University in the United Kingdom.[1]
Career
Mahama first gained public attention in 2015 when he participated in a testimonial match for former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah.[1] He later trained with WAFA SC in Ghana and signed a short-term professional contract with Belgian club KV Mechelen. His football activities also included training engagements with clubs in Europe and the Middle East.
In May 2024, Mahama passed the FIFA Agent Examinations and became a licensed FIFA football agent.[2][3][4][5]
Philanthropy
Mahama is the founder and CEO of Legacy Rise Sports, a sports development initiative focused on athlete mentorship, training, and international exposure.[6] The organization also operates youth empowerment programs and community sports outreach activities.

Sharaf Mahama has been active in Ghana’s boxing community, supporting promotional events and contributing to the visibility of the sport. In 2023 and 2024, Mahama facilitated international boxing engagements in Ghana, including extending an invitation to British heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua to visit the country. During the visit, Joshua met with Mahama and later paid a courtesy call on former President John Dramani Mahama.[9][10]
Mahama also supported promotional activities involving other international athletes, including Amir Khan, as part of efforts to position Ghana as a destination for global sporting events.[11]
