Sharmarke Mohamud (born 31 December 1995), known professionally as Sharky, is a British YouTuber, content creator, presenter, and football manager[2]. He is a founding member of the YouTube group Beta Squad and the creator and manager of six-a-side football team SDS FC. He has participated in charity matches and has been featured in publications including GQ and Sky Sports.
Early life
Sharmarke Mohamud was born in Utrecht, Netherlands, in 1995, and is of Somali descent.[3]He is the oldest of his family[3]. He moved to London, England, during his childhood, where he developed a 'passion for football' and entertainment.[3]He later transitioned into pursuing digital content creation and sports team leadership[4].
Career
YouTube and Beta Squad
Sharky launched his YouTube channel as afcSharky on August 2015, later shortening the name to Sharky[3].
In 2019, he co-founded the Beta Squad, a British YouTube collective comprising Chunkz,Niko Omilana, AJ Shabeel, and King Kenny. The group is known for its viral content and competitive series, amassing millions of subscribers[5]. Beta Squad have collabs with JD and as of 2024 Beta Squad has surpassed 10 million[5]
SDS FC and Baller League
SDS FC (Sharky Does Sports) was founded in 2022 as a casual six-a-side team formed by Sharky and friends from his podcast group. In 2025, the team entered the Baller League UK[6], a televised influencer-based six-a-side competition backed by Sky Sports[7]. According to British GQ, he holds football coaching qualifications and combined his sports knowledge with digital influence to lead his team throughout the competition. SDS FC, named after his podcast Sharky Does Sports, reflected his wider effort to bridge football and entertainment content. “I just want to help them… these guys are the ones that are really talented,” Sharky told GQ, referring to the players he coached and promoted through his platform. Collaboration with Arsenal FC
In 2025, Sharky began creating digital content for Arsenal FC’s official media channels[17]. His segments include formats such as “Guess the Gooner,”[18] where players like Bukayo Saka and fans try to identify mystery Arsenal supporters through clues and questions. The content blends football culture with entertainment, contributing to Arsenal’s outreach to younger audiences on platforms like YouTube and TikTok. In July 2023, Sharky appeared as a guest on Arsenal Football Club’s official digital video series “Nketiah and Smith Rowe play Guess the Gooner”, joining players Eddie Nketiah and Emile Smith Rowe to identify genuine Arsenal supporters among participants. His appearance highlighted his emerging role in bridging football culture and digital entertainment content for younger audiences[19]
In 2024, Sharky collaborated with Arsenal FC to present the club’s official Ball Squad trials for under-16s, held at the Emirates Stadium. The event was part of Arsenal’s youth engagement programme and was featured on the club’s website and social media platforms [20]
Charity Matches
Sharky participated in the inaugural Match for Hope charity football match on 23 February 2024 at Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, Doha, alongside content creators and football legends. The event raised over US $8.8 million for the Education Above All Foundation and attracted more than 22 million viewers worldwide. The teams were managed by former professionals Arsène Wenger and Antonio Conte, with Sharky playing for Conte’s team[21][22]
He returned for the second edition on 14 February 2025 at Stadium 974 in Doha, featuring alongside high-profile figures such as Thierry Henry and Andrés Iniesta. The 2025 match raised approximately QAR 39 million (~US $10.7 million) with over 25 million viewers globally. Sharky captained Team Chunkz & iShowSpeed[23]
On 2 June 2024, Sharky played and hosted a football charity match along with Beta Squad and American YouTube group AMP[24] at Selhurst Park, London, England. The event raised money for The Water Project. Sharky scored a freekick for Team Beta Squad, before the match ended in a 6–6 draw after a pitch invasion forced the game to be called off.[25]
