Stampede Auto is an independent used car dealership based in Calgary, Alberta. Founded in 2013, the privately held company sells pre-owned cars, trucks, SUVs and vans and offers vehicle financing and trade-in services.[1][2] As of 2024, the company employed more than 20 people.[3] It is licensed by the Alberta Motor Vehicle Industry Council (AMVIC).[1]
History
Stampede Auto was founded in Calgary in 2013. The company describes itself as a family-owned business.[1][4] By its first anniversary, the dealership had expanded its inventory.
In November 2021, the company announced the opening of a new location in southeast Calgary.[2] At the time, it reported more than 100 vehicles in stock and offered an online financing pre-approval tool and a cash referral program for customers.
In July 2022, it announced a move to Centre Avenue NE in northeast Calgary.[5] Along with the move, the company launched an online virtual showroom where customers could search its inventory by make, model, body type and price.
The dealership still operates from this location.[1] In July 2023, Stampede Auto announced an expansion of its inventory, which included vehicles from BMW, Honda, Chrysler, Maserati, Toyota, Tesla, Porsche, Ford, Chevrolet, Ram and Jeep.[6] At the same time, the company began offering free vehicle shipping.
By 2024, the company employed more than 20 people across sales, finance, operations and service.[3] Its staff included sales representatives, a business development centre team, mechanics, detailers and lot attendants, as well as bookkeeping and online project management staff. According to the company, it had sold pre-owned vehicles to more than 2,500 customers.[1]
Activities
Stampede Auto sells used vehicles, including sedans, trucks, SUVs, vans, hybrids and electric cars.[4][2] The dealership also sells classic and collector vehicles, including American muscle cars, vintage pickup trucks, European classics and resto-mods. According to the company, it has an inventory of more than 240 vehicles and serves customers in Calgary and nearby communities, including Airdrie, Cochrane, Okotoks and Chestermere.[1] According to the company, each vehicle undergoes a 150-point inspection before sale and comes with a Carfax vehicle history report.[1] The dealership operates an on-site service centre for post-purchase vehicle maintenance.
The dealership arranges vehicle financing for customers of all credit types. According to the company, it works with more than 27 lenders.[4][3] It also runs financing programs for customers rebuilding credit and for newcomers to Canada.[1][7] Its credit rebuilding program includes refinancing and debt consolidation options, with payments arranged on a bi-weekly basis. Other services include trade-in appraisals and the purchase of vehicles directly from owners.[5] The dealership's inventory is also listed on CarGurus and AutoTrader.ca.[8][9]
Community involvement
The company sponsors the Stampede Auto Used Cars Scholarship for students. The scholarship is listed in the scholarship directory of Indigenous Services Canada and on student award platforms.[10][11] Established in 2023, the scholarship is awarded to students enrolled at post-secondary institutions in Canada or the United States. Applicants submit an essay on topics such as the role of used cars in student life, financial independence and sustainable mobility. In 2026 the award was offered as the "Driven Toward the Future" scholarship and was promoted through university financial aid offices, including those of Florida International University and Columbia College Chicago.
In August 2024, after a severe hailstorm in Calgary, the dealership offered a CAD 1,000 discount on used vehicles to residents whose cars had been damaged by hail. In July 2026, during the Calgary Stampede, the dealership hosted a free community breakfast at its premises.[12]
Management
Kaswer Khani is the General Manager of Stampede Auto.[1] As of 2024, the management team also included sales managers Sam Khani and Creg Taylor and finance managers Owen Martin, Matteo Zanin and Paul Kennedy.[4][3]
