Suzanne Fletcher MBE is a campaigner, politician and author, from Eaglescliffe. She was a councillor for Bishopsgarth and Elm Tree on Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council from 1981 to 2011, and served as Lord mayor between 2006 and 2007.[1][2]
Personal Life
Suzanne grew up by in South Yorkshire where her father was a police officer. Her mother - determined to treat the them with dignity, would always prepare meals for prisoners, although they were often sent back uneaten.[1]
Growing up near Slag heaps, the family experienced awful air pollution which came up through the cellar. After her mouse died, Suzanne complained to the authorities, who refuted her claims, saying the family's living conditions were fine.
She and her husband John have one son and two grandchildren.[3]
In April 2016, Suzanne was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE).[4]
