Virginia Chipurnoi is an American animal welfare advocate. She is the president of the Humane Society of New York (HSNY), a non-profit organization providing veterinary care and adoption services for dogs and cats.[1]
Biography
Chipurnoi was born and raised in the United States. Growing up, she developed a passion for animal welfare causes.
After graduating, Chipurnoi started her career in the fashion industry. She has worked with Reuters in Paris, France, and Lord & Taylor, a New York fashion week retailer.
Chipurnoi left his fashion career to work full-time for animal welfare causes. She has volunteered at various animal shelters and welfare organizations, including the ASPCA.
Chipurnoi joined the Humane Society of New York (HSNY) as a volunteer board member. Following years of service, HSNY elected Chipurnoi as its president. HSNY is a non-profit organization and charity that provides veterinary care and adoption services for stray dogs and cats. The organization operates the Vladimir Horowitz and Wanda Toscanini Horowitz Adoption Center, pairing dogs and cats with responsible owners.[2]
HSNY also operates an animal care hospital, providing veterinary services such as geriatric care, ultrasound, blood tests, inoculations, dentistry, spay and neuter, and medical and surgical management.
At HSNY, Chipurnoi has introduced the Forever Homes policy, offering screening measures to match pets with compatible owners. She also leads HSNY in its efforts to advocate for animal markets, roadside zoos, horse slaughter, and canned hunts.[3]
Personal life
Chipurnoi resides in New York City. She is married to her husband, Laurence, and has two daughters: Alex and Sarah. She has various pets, including horses, dogs, and cats. Chipurnoi likes designer dresses and wears high-end designers such as Ungar, Givenchy, Halston, and Saint Laurent.
