Wang Pei (Chinese: 王霈; born 1989) is a Chinese contemporary artist based in Barcelona, Spain.[1] He works primarily in contemporary painting and visual research, and is represented by Workplace Gallery in London.[2]

Early life and education

Wang received his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degrees from the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, China (2008–2015).[2] Since 2021, he has been pursuing doctoral research at the University of Barcelona.[3]

Career

Wang has presented solo exhibitions in New York, London, and Rome. In 2024, his solo show Mute was presented at Tara Downs Gallery, New York.[4] During Frieze London 2024, Wang Pei’s exhibition The Enneagram Mask at Workplace Gallery was listed by Artsy as one of the “10 Must-See Exhibitions,” alongside artists such as Yayoi Kusama, Tracey Emin, Olivier Mosset, Anna Weyant, and George Rouy.[5][6]In 2025, he staged The Deluge at T293 Gallery in Rome.[7] Coverage of his T293 presentation was featured in independent media reports by Artribune and Exibart.[8][9]
